Break Through Fatigue: Improve Energy

Last year I was asked to test a supplement created by a doctor for women. It is a supplement designed to improve energy levels in women who take it for an extended period of time. I did not mind trying it because it was hormone based and I was curious to see if it would work. At the time I was caffeine dependent and didn’t consider myself awake unless I had to bitterest brew I could make. I also was a believer in MSM.
I doubt I could live in the city if I did not have MSM. Between running from one end of the city to the next to the exhausting number of stairs one must master to become a true new Yorker, the only thing that keeps my energy levels adequate is a my daily cocktail of coffee and Emergencee MSM packets. Everyone has his or her vice and this was mine. Now if you don’t know what MSM is, it is a sulfur, a mineral that relieves sore muscles and increases agility and energy, at least that was my experience.
There are two drawbacks to using this cocktail. You cant skip a day of coffee, even on your day off, without experiencing excruciating headaches and other withdrawal symptoms and MSM is not effective until the next day. It must be taken 24 hours in advance to have any effect on sore muscles. Both worked seamlessly together with coffee allowing me to live an excessively active lifestyle and msm preventing me from experiencing the burnout. So when I was asked by the doctor’s publicist to try the supplement and to blog about it I was happy to give up caffeine and MSM.
I was consistent with the supplement but had to give it up because I had a bad reaction. I went back to caffeine but noticed I just did not have the energy to power through my day anymore. I felt completely burnt out, so much so that I gave up bike riding, an activity that increasingly made my leg muscles feel tired. It was not until my brother in law, a fitness trainer in the United States Coast Guard, recommended that I work out with weights that I realized what was missing. He explained to me that muscles give the body the strength it needs to function especially at a higher capacity. Within a short time of working out with weights, I no longer felt as if my adrenals were depleted, my legs felt stronger and I had more energy all the time.
I was always afraid of using weights because I did not want to bulk up. I prefer looking sleek as opposed to muscular. He also explained how as we grow older muscles provide support for the bone structure and keeps strong and standing tall. I doubt I will ever give up working with weights. I am no longer caffeine dependent and my energy level is off the charts.
