If you are a working dad, you already know how hard it is to juggle work with family matters, especially if you are a “hands on” type of dad. I know because I am a working and “hands on” dad too. And when it comes to exercising and keeping fit, it just gets worse. That’s why it is important to have some kind of weight loss plan in place if you are a stressed out dad.

It is easy to say “I just don’t have the time and energy to exercise regularly”. That’s just a lame excuse. There are some things in life that you have to do, like brushing your teeth in the mornings and before you go to bed. Why not make regular exercises a “must do” thing in your life? That way, you don’t even need to think about it before doing it.

It is, of course, easier said than done to make exercises a permanent and indispensable part of your daily routine. So you may need to think about how you can make this task easier to do. Luckily, there are some things you can indeed do to make life easier for you….

1. Take baby steps

The key to starting and sticking to a exercise routine is not to do it all at once. You are not Superman but a human being. If you try to do all the bench presses and 100 push ups at one go, you are not only going to injure yourself, you will be afraid of even starting. So the thing to do is to take baby steps. For starters, go to the gym once a week and do some easy tasks first. Then increase your frequency as you get fitter.

2. Choose the exercises that you love doing

If you don’t like the gym, you can try other types of exercises that suit your taste and liking. Don’t follow the crowd blindly. Do what you love to do and you will do it more lovingly and for a longer time. You can for example, take up a sport or simply do brisk walking or climbing the stairs to burn some excess fat. Enjoy what you do and the rest will follow.

3. Listen to your favourite music while you exercise

Personally, I really like theme song from the Rocky movie “Eye of the Tiger”. This always motivate me, I don’t know why. You must have your own favourite sports music or motivational music. Try to listen to them while you exercise, it will make your exercises more enjoyable.

4. Get an exercise buddy

Exercising or working out alone can be very boring. But if you can find a buddy a friend to workout with you, it will make things easier and more fun. Besides your friend will also appreciate your company – its a win-win situation. If you really can’t get a buddy to go along with you, then make friends with people in the gym or the place you do your exercises. Try it. You won’t regret it.
