Obesity Can Be Life Threatening

I think it is reasonable to say that by choice no one wants to be overweight. Unfortunately, however, a huge percentage of the population in the western world is overweight and a growing number of people are now categorised as being obese.
A large number of people will be familiar with the term obese but will have no idea what the term really means.
For those of you that would like to determine if you are obese then this is what it means:
Obesity is a medical term that is directly related to your BMI (body mass index) which is worked out by comparing a persons height and weight ratio.
The formula for working out your BMI is extremely straight forward. The first step in determining if you are obese is to step onto the scales and make a note of your weight, in kilos, and then measure your height, in metres.
To work out your BMI you then divide your weight by your height squared.
To give you an example of this if we take a person who is 90 kilos and is 1.6 metres tall that individuals BMI would be calculated as follows:
90 divided by 2.56 (ie. 1.6 x 1.6 =2.56) equals 35.16 which is that persons BMI.
Broadly speaking anyone with a BMI over 30 is clinically obese. Therefore the individual in my example would be classified as being obese.
To be considered as having a correct weight your BMI should be between 18.5 and 24.9.
Whether you are obese or you are merely slightly overweight you should at least make an effort to bring your weight down to something approaching your ideal weight.
Obviously the the higher your BMI is the more difficult it is going to be to reduce your weight significantly and the longer it is going to take you.
There are obviously benefits in reducing your weight to something around about your correct weight.
The main benefit is of course that reducing your weight will improve your health and cut down the likelihood of you suffering life threatening illnesses such as heart attacks and breathing problems.
Actually losing the weight is however not an easy thing to do. If you want to have any chance of success you will require an immense amount of will power and determination and a high percentage of people who set out with the best of intentions find that they lose heart fairly quickly.
The best way of losing weight is to do it slowly and naturally. This entails moderating your food intake and ensuring that you are taking enough exercise to burn up the calories that you consume.
For those of you that do not have the will power to radically change your life style there are various diet pills that you can buy to help you.
There are weight loss pills that are designed to work in a variety of ways to help you achieve the weight loss you require.
There are for example products that act as appetite suppressants and teach your body to need less food and if you cut down on your food intake it is fair to assume that you will begin to lose weight as a result.
There are pills available that will actually help to burn away your existing body fat and pills that will help in preventing the body from converting the food we eat into fat.
You do of course need to exercise care with regard to what type of pills you take and it is always a good idea to look for products that are manufactured using only natural ingredients. You should also always set yourself weight loss targets that are achievable and lose weight gradually rather than to attempt to lose vast amounts of weight in a short time as it is far less likely that you will regain the weight again if you lose it gradually.
Which ever way you choose to lose weight is down to your own preference but for your healths sake make the decision and make it now – tomorrow may be too late!
