Does increasing your metabolism have to be such a struggle? Most will think of this as going on a BIG diet which will be getting rid of most of their favorite foods. But it really doesn’t have to be that way and it shouldn’t be viewed that way either. The truth is that if you know how to have a good balance in your lifestyle then you will be able to increase your metabolism with some simple, yet effective changes.
Stop skipping breakfast!
You hear this time and time again, why? It’s because your breakfast meal is a big role player in speeding up your metabolism. Skipping the first meal of the day would put a huge gap between the last time you actually had something to eat. Your energy levels drop, you tend to get sleepy mid day and you’re telling your body that it is running into survival mode.
That will trigger the response to begin storing fat. Try eating egg beaters/egg whites or oatmeal. The whole point is not to stop eating or skipping meals. The idea is always to BURN fat, by skipping meals or not eating you will be on your way to accomplishing nothing.
Lift Some Weights! It’s Not Always About How to Gain Muscle
Don’t be fooled into thinking that the weight room is only for bulking up and for the guys. That’s completely incorrect. You can actually hit the weight room and use the weights in different ways to help achieve different goals. In order to increase your metabolism, very light weights and fast movements will help tone and build your muscles without bulking them. And with added muscle comes the ability to burn fat naturally.
Sleep – Getting Your ZZZ’s!
Plain and simple, if you’re able to get in at least 6-7 hours of good sleep you will give your body good advantages that it needs. All the foods eaten and work outs that are completed during the day all come together while we sleep. Give your body the ample time that is needed to help it recover, re-build and become stronger with a good night’s sleep. Stay away from late nights as that will only slow your system down and have you feeling very sluggish the next day and thereafter.
Don’t Sit All Day!
If you’re working at the office and you’re at the desk all day on the chair then get out of your chair and move around. Just by standing up alone you naturally speed up your metabolism compared to a couple hours of sitting. Walk around the office, go get a drink of water or go walk to the copy machine and back. Mix it up and keep it moving. Don’t let your metabolism fall asleep.
Remember that not eating will not help you lose weight; you will begin to burn muscle and start storing fat. There are many ways you can achieve optimal ways to burn fat gain muscle and start a complete transformation just by simple methods. The way I see it is, getting in shape should be enjoyable, motivating, and not stressful. It’s about enjoying your favorite foods but still being able to lose weight and get into shape.
